Kenny Slaught has nearly four decades of professional experience in the Santa Barbara, California, real estate industry. As the founder and president of Investec Real Estate Companies, Mr. Slaught manages a $750 million property portfolio that includes more than 3 million square feet of commercial, residential, and retail space. He also directs investment strategy and business development for the company. Under Kenny Slaught’s governance, Investec has grown into one of Santa Barbara’s leading comprehensive real estate firms. In addition to Santa Barbara, Investec works in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Luis Obispo counties. The company has received approvals on 25 housing developments and has built and sold more than 1,000 residential units on these projects. In addition, Investec’s total transaction volume exceeds $1.3 billion.

As an adolescent, Kenny Slaught studied at Saint Philips Academy and La Salle High School in Pasadena. As an accomplished basketball player, he enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara, on an athletic scholarship. At UCSB, Kenny Slaught studied business and economics and ultimately earned a bachelor of arts. He secured his California Real Estate Broker license immediately after graduation in 1979 and founded Investec four years later. In 1996, he earned his California Contractors State License to further integrate his company’s services.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Slaught is involved in the Santa Barbara community through a range of nonprofit groups, educational institutions, and charities. In support of his alma mater, he has served on the UCSB Foundation Board of Trustees since 1996. He has also made considerable donations to the university and is a member of the UCSB Chancellor’s Council and Lancaster Society.

Kenny Slaught has served as an officer and member of the board of directors of the Storyteller Children’s Center for nearly three decades. This organization provides free early childhood education to homeless, disadvantaged, and at-risk youth in Santa Barbara. For 20 years, Mr. Slaught has been a member of the national board of directors of Dream Foundation, a charity that fulfills wishes for adults with terminal illnesses. He previously served on the board of directors for Hospice of Santa Barbara, which provides a range of compassionate services for individuals approaching the end of life.

Besides his work with these nonprofits, Mr. Slaught contributes to several other organizations, such as the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Zoo, and the Santa Barbara Art Museum. He also donates to four local high schools to ensure that students have access to the highest caliber education possible. Other organizations that he supports include Lotusland, the Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, the CADA Mentor Program, and the Santa Barbara Foresters.

Kenny Slaught is also active in the real estate industry through his memberships in the California Association of Realtors, the Building Industry Association of Southern California, and the Santa Barbara Rental Property Association. He is additionally affiliated with the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Urban Land Institute.
