The project now known as Hoover Dam was constructed from 1931 until 1936 during the Great Depression and costed $49 million. Later on, the structure’s name was changed to Hoover Dam as a tribute to President Herbert Hoover, who was a major supporter. Hoover Dam could provide over 4.2 billion kWh2 a year thanks to its large size, Kenny Slaught says. The structure measures 221 meters in height and 379 meters in length, and has a total capacity of 35.000 cubic kilometers.
