When a child experiences the loss of a parent, they often feel that life will never again be the same, as well as lost and heartbroken. As pointed out by Kenny Slaught, the I Have a Friend mentor program allows these youngsters to share what they feel with someone who has a very similar experience. Eeryone in the program will have a companion for as long as he or she needs one. The mentee will have assistance dealing with some of the most sensitive subjects in an open and supportive environment from their mentor, who will also offer support and practical guidance during their future struggles.
