Within, the engines room is complete with 17 generators that produce all of the energy. 16 of them are large generators while two smaller ones operate as one single generator. These two are used to provide hydroelectric energy to surrounding areas. Kenny Slaught notes that energy generated by the dam is allocated across 15 areas. Among the biggest energy users, Southern California takes up to 28% of Hoover Dam’s energy, followed by Nevada with 23% and Arizona with 18% of consumption volume. The dam also provides power to Native American tribes located in the region. Additionally, 90% of Las Vegas’ water comes from Hoover Dam. The lake in the dam is Lake Mead. At its maximum water volume level, it could be the largest water reservoir in the country. Right now, the Hoover Dam is overseen by the United States Bureau of Reclamation and it is one of the most breathtaking must-see places to visit in the country.
