Mission Santa Barbara was started in 1786 by the Spanish Catholic Church, and was the tenth church who converted the indigenous people in Santa Barbara County. The missions includes a filter house,  Spanish gristmill, portions of aqueducts, and two reservoirs served as part of Santa Barbara water system. Kenny Slaught says that those who want to visit California could enjoy the Mission La Purisima Concepción historic park, previously the Catholic chapel. The park provides a visitors center as well as guided tours, and is managed by the the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Royal Presidio of Santa Barbara, known as El Presidio, used to be a military installation. It was started at the orders of King Carlos III and was meant to expand the government benefits for those living in the Santa Barbara Channel. This building has an archaeological contribution to the nation’s history and thus, it attracts millions of visitors.
