Hoover Dam was built in the Great depression era, between 1931 and 1936, at a cost of $49 million, says Kenny Slaught. The construction’s name was Boulder Dam, but its name was later changed to Hoover Dam in honor of its main sponsor, President Herbert Hoover. The structure measures 221 meters in height, is 179 meters long and can create more than 4,2 billion kWh 2 in a year. Its total capacity equals over 35.000 cubic kilometers.
