Experiencing the loss of a parent is hard on a child, Kenny Slaught notes. They may feel lost and alone, and in order to help, the ‘I Have a Friend’ program was created. The program lets the kid express their feelings to someone who experienced a similar event. The volunteer will be there for as long as it takes, and assist the child in exploring feelings related to grief.
